Day 3

I promised myself that I would stay "honest" with the program but I can see that some things need to be twixt a bit. The smoothie is good, put needs something beyond berries. Maybe some peach with maple flavoring.  I had some blackberries in the freezer and used them this morning instead of the blue berries. Made a little difference.

Huge salad made with cauliflower and broccoli, olive oil (the good stuff) and sweet balsamic. Lots of salt and pepper and oh boy...yummy. I had to make two bowls as I smacked my way through most of one before dinner. Had 6 oz. of a stuffed pork chop (with no dressing. I had to cook it for hubby before it went bad :):) and stir fried green beens. Had my 1/2 cup rice, and I was stuffed.

Tea Time with yogurt and green tea. I'm going to treat myself with other herb teas I have just to have a different taste. I don't think it will matter to the plan.

I also said I was not going to get on the scale everyday, but I am going to tomorrow as I want to see if anything is working.   I feel good, a little foggy brain (no coffee) and a little slow (no coffee).

Day 2

No amount of green tea is going to get my eyes open in the morning.  However, as yet, I don't have the head ache of caffeine withdrawals that some say I should have.

Woke up starving and was all I could do to not have a egg samie. However, I made the smoothie and added a little cranberry juice for extra zip.  That's a berry, right? Not on the list but a little can't hurt.

Mid meal was more stir fry veggies and the 1/2 cup rice.  I've got to look at some Vegan books and find a more interesting way to cook. We have ate healthy for years, so changing our habits is not hard for me as it might be for others. We a big meat eaters, and I could eat my way through a bread shop in 5 minuets, so that part will in days to come bother me I'm sure.

Late night egret with a bit of raspberry.

I must admit, I'm not overly hungry through the day, but this is just the beginning so my next week I might be eating the woodwork.

Day 1

Hubby brought me my cup of green tea rather than the strong coffee he usually brings. Then another and another, while I waited for the buzz to open my eyes. No luck there so went to the bathroom and used the cold water on the face trick. That worked.

Starting weight  183lbs. That surprised me after all the holiday eating. I expected more; I look more, as all the sand has shifted over the years.

Breakfast: about 10:00 am

Made the smoothie using brown rice powder (couldn't find white), blue berries I had, and added a teaspoon of vanilla as I couldn't find any plain almond milk.  Things were sold out at Fred's as lots of folks are also trying the plan. Had 4 great conversations with women I didn't know before, two of which were fighting over the last bag of flaxseeds.

The smoothie was thick and grainy, not at all like it is when I use whey powder and more fruit. I don't know if it is the green banana or the brown rice powder. Not bad, but could be better. I guess I can manage for 21 days.  I forgot about the lemon water, but my Granny did this every morning, so know it is good to get the body going.

Late lunch/early dinner: about 3:00 pm

I like us to have our large meal mid-day. We feel and sleep better. This is something we learned on our travels. Of course as retires we eat anytime we want. We call this tea time because it is a light meal.

I made a large salad for both of us with lots of veggies. I had a leftover chicken breast so chopped it up. Yes it was 6 oz., I weighed mine and put gave the rest to Hubby. I added french parsley and basil to pep it up. A good dash of oil and vinegar and I was good to go.  Really missed the crackers. Sigh.

Tea time: about 6:30/7:00 pm

Had my cup of yogurt with a bit of home made raspberry sauce, and drank my green tea. My pee will probably be green tomorrow from all the cups I've had today. Hubby had a big bowl of home made chicken veggie stew and sourdough bread. gerrrrrrrr. But I'm proud of myself as I stayed with the plan. I must admit I'm not hungry. Yet.  Also didn't have the broth. I didn't want to waste all that food by boiling it down, so I'm going to buy the box kind. I can already see how that would make a soup base.

MISSED MY COFFEE

Thinking and Shopping about it

Someone asked me what my new year resolutions are and I said, " I don't make any, I just bring out the list from 20 years ago and post them on the fridge. After all, they are the same ones anyway so I save time thinking about them.  About mid-May I pack them away for the next year." Ok, so starting a new year and a new diet AGAIN. This year it is not going to be a diet but a new eating plan. I like the sound of that better. Makes me think it's not a diet.

Dr. Oz is the sweetie heart of millions of fans who give him the last word on everything.  I have found that most of what he tells us is common sense or stuff my Granny told me, but every week or so there is something really worth my time.  This plan looks like one I can do for two weeks to get a jump start on things.

So I printed out the shopping list and took off to the store for the fix-ins. I wanted to avoid the sections I usually pa rouse so went right for the greens, health food and chicken. Goodbye crackers and cheese. Goodby to pasta, ice cream, and lord help me, coffee. I'm not a heavy coffee drinker, but ask anyone who knows me even a little bit, will say I need my 2/3 morning cups before I'm even a human being.

Lock the barn Nelly, the bitch is on the loose.
